We have experienced God’s love

1. John 4,16 – Passion Translation

We have come into an intimate experience with God’s love, and we trust in the love he has for us. God is love! Those who are living in love are living in God, and God lives through them.

On Easter, we may celebrate the greatest love story the world has ever seen. We may celebrate that each and every one of us has experienced God’s love.

But this experience was not a one-time thing – we can enter into an intimate relationship with God every day and trust in the love He has for us. God’s love is not something remote, but rather we get to share our lives with a God who is interested in every thought we have, who wants to stand by us in all our ups and all our downs; a God who wants to get personal with us – God seeks communion with us and wants to be in a loving relationship with us.

In Psalm 139, David recognizes how great an interest God has in his life. He states:

“Lord, you search me and know me! I sit or rise, you know; you understand my thoughts from afar. Thou watchest me whether I walk or lie down, and art acquainted with all my ways; yea, there is not a word on my tongue which thou, Lord, knowest not fully. On every side you surround me and hold your hand over me.”

David has experienced and accepted for himself the love of God – he trusts that God knows his ways, understands his thoughts, and lays his protective hand over his life.

We may accept the love that God has for us. He wants us to experience it and trust in it. You may be wondering right now how it is, after all you have done, that God loves you. Maybe you have already felt God’s love very clearly in your life, but your current situation makes it hard for you to accept this experience for your life – I want to remind you: we don’t have to do anything to earn His love. We are allowed to experience it just like that.

Action Step: Psalm 27:8 says “I remember that you said, “Seek my nearness!” That’s what I want to do now, and come to you in prayer.”

I want to encourage you, no matter where you are, take time today and seek God’s nearness. Whether you are spending moments in God’s presence every day or sharing a moment with Him for the first time in a long time – Take the time and experience His presence and His love.
