OUR CHURCH IS COMMITTED TO RESPOND TO DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO HELP AND BE THE ANSWER TO A WORLD IN NEED. WE CANNOT DO EVERYTHING BUT WE CAN DO SOMETHING.
Through Hillsong City Care, we continue to help our community in a practical way by serving in community centres, with the homeless and in prisons. In Paris, we serve in three women’s shelters and another one in Lyon. Our initiatives “Stuff the Bus” and “A Kilo of Kindness” have allowed us to bless several families in our local communities this year during Christmas and Easter. This year we started volunteering in women’s detention centre in Lyon where we gather for a time of worship and we share the Word of God.
We have many more projects to come and our heart is to see our local communities discover the love of Jesus. All this is possible through the Heart for the House offering and the generosity of our Kingdom Builders.
SINCE 2015, EUROPE HAS BEEN GOING THROUGH ONE OF THE WORST MIGRATION CRISIS SINCE WORLD WAR II. ACCORDING TO THE UN, 2016 WAS THE DEADLIEST YEAR EVER FOR THE REFUGEES CROSSING THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA IN ORDER TO REACH EUROPE. INNUMEROUS REFUGEE CAMPS HAVE BEEN FORMED DUE TO A LACK OF SOCIAL HOUSING. AS A RESULT, THE GOVERNEMENT HAS REQUESTED PUBLIC STRUCTURES LIKE SPORT HALLS AS TEMPORARY HOUSING TO WELCOME THE MIGRANTS, TO IDENTIFY THEIR SITUATION AND TO DIRECT THEM IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE.
This summer, the 35th evacuation since June 2015 took place from the north of the capital on the 18th August 2017. Escorted by the police, these migrants were brought to several sport halls of Ile-de-France and in a refugee camp in the 15th district of Paris. Aurore, an association that we have been working with for several years, was able to welcome up to 456 people in this camp.
This year, we decided that a part of our Heart for the House offering will be intended to provide ‘Welcome Packs’ to welcome these individuals and to place value on each of their lives. These packs will allow us to bring some comfort to those who were welcomed in critical conditions following their arrival. Together, we can make a difference in their lives.
SHINE IS A PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR ALL WOMEN REGARDLESS OF THEIR CULTURAL OR SOCIAL ECONOMIC BACKGROUNDS OR EDUCATION. SINCE 1997, SHINE HAS BEEN REQUESTED AROUND THE WORLD BY THOUSANDS OF ORGANIZATIONS AND SEVERAL ESTABLISHMENTS SUCH AS SCHOOLS, COMMUNITY CENTRES, ETHNIC COMMUNITIES, RELIGIOUS GROUPS, RURAL COMMUNITIES AND CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES.
This year, for the first time, we have taken this program out of our church, in one of the three women’s shelters that we serve in Paris. We have seen 11 women who became aware of who they are and who they want to be. One of our projects this year through City Care is to reach more women and to provide to this program to other shelters and organizations.
