The destination of love

1 John 4:18 (NIV)

‘There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. ‘

Good Friday. The day Jesus has been crucified and screamed out ‘It is done’. But what exactly is ‘done’?

The curtain has been torn and sins were forgiven. The way into his presence has been cleared.

Is there any greater proof of love we could ever receive? The perfect God who gave His perfect son so that each and everyone of us, as imperfect as we are, can come to Him.

But still, often we are struggling to accept His unconditional love. But what does unconditional love mean? Google shows us synonyms to unconditional as ‘unrestrained’ and ‘absolute’. So unconditional love is an unrestrained acceptance and absolute forgiveness of our sins.

Just like a child runs to their father without hesitation, when being afraid, can we as sons and daughters run to our Father without shame. In 1.John 4:18 we have read that perfect love drives out fear. And we find this ‘perfect love’ in God our Father! His spirit is not a spirit of fear but a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. (2.Timothy 1:7 NKJV) Through the Holy Spirit, that lives within us, we can experience how fear and worries give way for His love and peace to move in.

Looking at your life: In what area of your life does fear still reign over the unconditional acceptance of God?

Action Step:

We cannot hide from Him in dread and still come to Him in love. Be intentional today and put your fears in front of God and ask for His supernatural peace over your life.
