Call for Christians to expand the Kingdom, as Hillsong Conference nears

2 June 2016

All Christians can be involved in building and extending God’s Kingdom, according to Lead Pastor of Hillsong Church Australia Joel A’Bell.

Speaking ahead of the annual Hillsong Conference, Pastor A’Bell said it is easy for people to become so distracted by everyday life, that they push their spiritual calling into the background.

“The entire reason Pastor Brian and Bobbie Houston started Hillsong Conference almost 30 years ago is very simple – to champion and build the local church,” he explained.

“And by The Church, I’m referring to the biblical meaning which is the people.”

He said the church has lost count of the number of testimonies and stories they have received over the years of changed lives and fulfilled destinies from people who have attended the conference.

“Our conference mandate is to invest into other churches, and to provide every person with opportunities to not only grow closer to God but to allow Him to empower us to truly do what He has called each of us to do.”

Pastor A’Bell said that last year, every major Christian denomination was represented as people from over 140 countries attended.

“SBS visited us and we took them into the interpreting centre. Not only were they amazed at the multi-cultural aspect of the conference but they remarked that we had more nationalities attending than they – as Australia’s international broadcaster – reached!”

Guests this year include Casey Treat, Erwin McManus, Steven Furtick, Christine Caine and Brian and Jenn Johnson.

The program commences on Tuesday night July 5 and ends on Friday night July 8, and there are programs for children and teens as well as masterclass streams of lead, help and create, so that every person can learn according to their gifts.

“We want to be a blessing to the church, and in turn we hope every person is a blessing to the Kingdom.”
