On Saturday, November 21, we (Hillsong Rotterdam) will be organising a Social Impact Morning in collaboration with Stichting Present Rotterdam. There will be an opportunity to choose from three different projects.
Project 1: Practical task (help prepare a garden for winter)
Help a mother and her adult daughter get their garden back into shape (in Rotterdam-South). The daughter has a physical disability, and the mother cares for her on her own, making garden maintenance difficult. Together, you will help make the garden a pleasant, accessible space and get it ready for winter by digging out remaining weeds, tidying the garden, disposing of weeds that have already been removed, and covering the soil to help prevent weeds from growing back.
This project will run from 09:30-12:30.
Project 2: Practical task (assemble furniture for a young family)
Help a young mother with two children, aged two years and a newborn, as she settles into her own home after a period in family accommodation (in Rotterdam Delfshaven). She is looking forward to building a fresh start. Help assemble a children’s wardrobe, toddler bed, two bathroom cabinets, a dining table and chairs, and a coffee table. Please start with the children’s furniture. Please help by bringing your own tools.
This project will run from 09:30-12:30.
Project 3: Social activity (Games and activities with newcomers)
The COA provides temporary emergency accommodation for newcomers on several boats around the city. Beyond a safe place to stay, activities help residents connect and feel welcome. Join in and help create a fun, welcoming morning. There are two activity options: games and/or sport on the Aelbrechtskade boat, or creative activities on the Parkhaven boat. We will make the division between option A and option B at a later stage, so you do not need to choose between them now.
This project will run from 10:00-12:00.
Practical details:
Due to the privacy of the people we are helping, the exact addresses are not listed on ChurchSuite. After signing up, you will receive information the week before with the address and more details about the project you selected. You will meet directly at that location. Please note that each activity has a limited number of spots available.
