Who is Jesus?
It is very important to understand who Jesus Christ is. First of all, because it impacts our decision to have a personal relationship with Jesus.
But who is He?
“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.” (Colossians 1:15)
I can imagine how the locals of the places Jesus visited were talking about Him, how they built theories and argued about his teaching … Have you heard … What they said about Him … Did you know …? Especially the religious people of that time, the teachers of the law. Wherever He was, whatever He said or did, the entire city immediately began talking about it.
When Jesus calmed the storm in Matthew 8:27, the disciples asked: “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
It is impossible to compare Jesus with anyone. We always compare public figures to people in history that they are similar to, because we like to categorise everything in order to understand it.
For example, we say they are a gifted leader like Winston Churchill; far-sighted like John F Kennedy; selfless like Mother Teresa; wise like Gandhi…
But when the question of who Jesus is impacts you personally, it becomes the most important question that you or I will ever be asked and ever have to answer. Who is Jesus? And, more importantly, who is Jesus for YOU?
Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)
This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.
The human nature of Christ gives us confidence
It is quite obvious that the divine nature of Christ gives us strength and confidence. He is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. All power in heaven and on earth is given to Him. But we lose sight of the fact that the human nature of Christ gives us no less confidence than the divine.
First, the fact that Christ became a man – it was not an extreme measure, this last way for God to save humanity.
Man is created in the image of God, and Jesus Christ is this image, perfected. And therefore His human nature expresses the perfect sovereign will of God.
His human nature allows us to establish ourselves as people, and confirms that God has a plan for mankind.
In addition, His perfect human nature shows us our true potential!!! You can not say, “I’m only one person.” or, “they are only people.” There is no such thing as “only”. Jesus demonstrated the tremendous potential of perfect human nature, and that’s not all – He gave us His Spirit to help us become like Himself.
Having read all of the above, you must be asking yourself this question, “what can I do to be saved?” Paul’s prison warden asked Paul the same thing. The answer was simple: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” (Acts 16: 30-31).
But how? Jesus answered this question in John 14: 6, “Jesus said to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life; No one comes to the Father, except through me. ” We need to believe that, “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13).
I pray this prayer, because I admit that I have done wrong. Please forgive me for all my bad deeds in the past.
Help me make You the Lord of my life and never forget about the plans that You have for me. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, and now He is the Lord of my life.
Thank you for saving me. Thank you that from this day forward I am a christian.
