Heart for the house

- So that others may

Dear Church,

The theme for Heart for the House this year is ‘so that others may’. It is an expression of uncommon generosity, which comes out of a conviction of collective self-interest. Whether we see it or not, society at large is getting more and more obsessed with self, and the idea of being for the collective, for the wellbeing of others and for the common good, is diminishing.

As we have grown and expanded over the years, much of what is our ‘now’ has come from the generosity of those in our church, and in particular those of central London. As we have both grown and expanded into one church in different locations, we have realised the need of having a facility that facilitates the vision. These facilities are the physical buildings that become the tools in our hand, so to speak. The Epicentre and Central London Hub are both opportunities before us, so that others may find their place in church.

Heart for the House should always be a testimony and a tool to ‘change the narrative’; where people sacrifice for the collective self-interest, for something they are a part of that benefits others and benefits them; a contrast to the ‘me first’ culture that we so often encounter.

This year, as we approach Heart for the House, we give to build God’s house so that others may find their home in our church. But we also believe that as you build God’s house, you will see him build yours. Why not pray about the part you can play, beginning on the 15th October?

We love and appreciate you!

What We Contribute Toward

Central London Hub

Central London Hub

As our Central London community continues to grow we’re looking to establish a multiuse space for offices and community engagement. This will be used for our Dominion offices, giving us an opportunity to work closer with volunteers, host ‘I Have Decided’ nights and even team nights. We could use this for a variety of different functions; a coffee shop, an exhibition space or even a barber shop. It would provide an excellent base for outreach and outworking the gospel, right in the heart of the city.

New Bermondsey Epicentre

New Bermondsey Epicentre

We’re looking to build a brand new, permanent building in South East London within the New Bermondsey development and are currently working on the planning stages of construction. This would be a great blessing to so many areas of church life, with a new auditorium for church services, classrooms for our leadership and performing arts academies, music practice rooms and auditoriums for our children and youth. Overall, this would be a significant development for our church and will also benefit our local community.

Social Justice

Social Justice

In addition to our giving towards the Epicenter and central London hub a portion of our Heart for the House giving goes towards our global social justice partnerships. God-ordained partnerships take us beyond what any one of us could possibly hope to achieve on our own, aligning our own strengths with the experience of others who have measurable and strategic impact on the ground, to see God’s purpose fulfilled in people’s lives. We partner with four global partners to see poverty and injustice eradicated:

Social Justice

Each year out of Heart for the House we give towards some of our global social justice partnerships and our own local social justice initiatives.

Vision Rescue

Vision Rescue

In India, one of the biggest social justice issues is the cycle of generational poverty, in which children are born into poverty and are subsequently disadvantaged in life. More than 8 million children under 6 years old live in approximately 49,000 slums across India, and the life circumstances of a large number of these children deny them access to education.

A21

A21

There are an estimated 40.3 million people around the world who are trapped in modern enslavement, and we want to play our part in releasing people into a life of freedom. Through supporting A21, we play a part in preventing human trafficking, through awareness and education, protecting survivors by running restoration programmes in aftercare facilities.

Amplified Arts Academy

Amplified Arts Academy

Our local initiatives include ‘The Academy’,
whose purpose is to provide what privilege
affords to those who are not of privilege. At
stage 1, the Academy is known as ‘Amplified
Performing Arts Academy’. The focus of the
Academy is to provide young leadership
development and mentorship, where those
that have help to provide and those that have benefited have a chance to give back.

Refugee Response

Refugee Response

One of the current issues is the refugee crisis facing Europe and the UK, as people flee their homes and often their homelands dues to war. Over the years, we have given to projects and initiatives within war-torn areas, to bring help to those on the journey as well as playing our part to resettle. Our heart is to continue help in this area so that refugees may encounter empathetic people, to welcome them, to empower them and to provide the opportunity to rebuild their lives.

Greenlight

Greenlight

Greenlight is about helping the homeless on the street of our cities with non-invasive medical help. Our aim is to engage with them in an empathetic way, with the heart to build relationships, to empower them and to help them into their own place to live, so that they may see the trap they find themselves in.
