God is building a house, and each of us has a role to play, no matter the path that brought us here. As Ephesians 2:19-22 reminds us, He laid the foundations with the apostles and prophets, and today He uses us to assemble the building, stone by stone, brick by brick, with Jesus Christ as the cornerstone—the one who unites all the parts and gives strength and coherence to the whole.
In 1 Corinthians 3:6-9, the apostle Paul also teaches us that, although we may plant or water, it is God who causes growth. Human partnership exists: we participate, we contribute according to our talents and callings, but it is God who leads the project and gives it life. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose, and each is rewarded according to their own labor.
In our areas of focus—people, families, the Church—each person brings a unique contribution, in harmony with a shared goal: to grow God’s kingdom. Together, we are God’s field, God’s building, part of a larger project co-built with the Master Builder.
