Kids & Family Department Leader – Job Summary
Hillsong Church NL is seeking a visionary and strategic Kids & Family Department Leader to lead one of the most significant areas of our church — investing in the next generation and strengthening families. This is more than a ministry role; it is a leadership position focused on building sustainable systems, shaping a healthy ministry culture, developing leaders, and ensuring both Kids and Family Ministries are aligned with the overall vision of Hillsong Church.

In this role, you will provide day-to-day leadership, pastoral oversight, and strategic direction for the Kids & Family Ministry on our Amsterdam campus, while also supporting and resourcing teams in Rotterdam and Brussels to ensure unity and shared vision across all locations. Through your leadership, you will build and steward a thriving ministry that helps children encounter Jesus, equips families to grow in faith, and raises strong future leaders.
Key Responsibilities
Spiritual & Strategic Leadership
- Provide vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the Kids & Family Department, aligning with the broader mission of Hillsong Church.
- Champion a culture of discipleship, creativity, excellence, safety, and family support across all campuses.
- Shape long-term strategies for growth, impact, and innovation in both children’s and family ministries.
- Ensure that both ministries contribute meaningfully to the church’s mission and overall goals.
- Growing the Kids & Family department by raising and mentoring leaders within the Kids & Family team, ensuring a culture of discipleship, excellence, and care.
Leadership and Team Development & Oversight
- Provide direct leadership and oversight to the Amsterdam Kids & Family Ministry team.
- Lead and support leaders and key team members to grow in leadership capacity and influence.
- Equip leaders to build and sustain healthy teams and volunteer development strategies.
- Offer strategic support, coaching and guidance to the Rotterdam, Brussels and future locations Kids & Family leaders, ensuring consistency and collaboration across all campuses.
Kids Ministry
- Safeguard the wellbeing of children by ensuring that policies are developed, written, implemented, and reviewed annually. Creating ministry environments that are safe, welcoming and impactful for children and their families.
- Ensure team members adhere to child protection and Code of Conduct standards.
- Deliver excellent programmes, that are biblically sound and reflect Hillsong culture, camps, and events that integrate discipleship, worship, and creativity.
- Adapt global Hillsong Kids curriculum for local context, ensuring cultural relevance and impact.
Family Ministry
- Develop and implement initiatives that equip, connect, support and pastor families within the church community.
- Plan and oversee events such as parenting seminars, family workshops, Sunday and midweek gatherings designed to support and strengthen family life.
- Provide resources and pastoral care to parents and caregivers, helping them disciple their children at home.
- Foster a collaborative relationship between the church and families, building trust and support systems.
Strategy, Planning & Stewardship
- Work collaboratively with other department leaders to align strategies and achieve shared church objectives.
- Oversee and manage annual budgets for Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Brussels. Ensuring wise stewardship and financial sustainability, while proposing future budget needs and effectively managing resources across multiple campuses.
- Lead major seasonal events such as Kids Camp.
- Provide clear reporting to leadership through monthly reports.
- Ensure policies and procedures are regularly updated and compliant with Dutch law.
Collaboration & Communication
- Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and families.
- Partner with Hillsong Global Kids Pastors and European teams, contributing to shared initiatives and conferences.
- Communicate effectively through parent groups, digital channels, and social media.
Profile & Qualifications
- Follower of Jesus and active member of Hillsong Church
- Proven leadership experience preferably in children’s or family ministry.
- Strategic thinker with a passion for leadership development and the ability to disciple others.
- Strong leadership, organisational, administrative, and communication skills, capable of adapting communication style to engage children, parents, and team members effectively.
- Committed to safeguarding and child protection best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree level of thinking and working (HBO or equivalent).
- Must hold (or be eligible for) Hillsong Pastors Credential.
- Valid VOG (renewed every 3 years).
- Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written).
- Holder of a valid EU work visa/permit.
