We’ve been looking at David’s battle against Goliath and seeing the faith he had that brought about his victory. 1 Samuel 17:47 says, “And everyone assembled here will know that the Lord rescues his people, but not with the sword and the spirit”. This is the Lord’s battle, and He will give the victory. David knew he could say, “I have faith for this”, because he knew who was in control. We can relax and we can have confidence in the future because God is in control.
Verse 50 says, “So David triumphed over the Philistine with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword. And he ran over, and he pulled Goliath’s sword from his sheath and he used it to kill him and cut off his head.” David knew that whatever the enemy had intended for evil, God could turn around use for His glory. We can stand in faith knowing that God can turn things around for His good purposes and glory in our life.

Prayer:
God of all glory, I am grateful that I do not need to carry the burden of having to control everything in my life. I thank you that Your power is so great that You can bring good even out of things that were intended for my harm. I commit to a life of faith for the year ahead, knowing that You have all things in Your control, and I can step forward confidently into Your purposes and will. I praise You for all You are going to do this year as I follow You!!
