How do you have authentic conversations with God?
The psalmists penned poetry to express different emotions and thoughts arising in various situations, empowering us to have authentic conversations with God in the highs and lows of life. This is what the theology of worship is about and will be the focus of this 7-week course as we learn to have a faith that knows how to express our deepest emotions to Him whilst learning how to see God in all seasons and situations, resulting in a lifestyle of worship that glorifies God giving Him praise.
Topics include:
- Introduction to the Book of Psalms
- Understanding Hebrew poetry and the importance of covenantal theology in the Psalms
- Psalms for the seasons of life and in Israel’s worship
- Psalms of lament
- Psalms of trust and thanksgiving
- David’s inner journey and God’s sovereignty and creative activity
- The Psalms as prophecy
