Alpha
Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that freely explore life and the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. Whether you’re just checking it out, new to faith, or coming back to church, you are invited.
This is for anyone who’s curious, with interesting talks designed to encourage conversation around the basics of the Christian faith. At Alpha, no question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish.
Each session includes food, a short talk, and a small group discussion where you can share your thoughts. At any point, if you think Alpha isn’t right for you, that’s not a problem.

Proverbs
Choices and the life of wisdom is the theme of our study of the book of Proverbs. We have all felt the impact of poor decisions and wish to make better ones. The ability to choose sets humans apart in all of God’s creation. Making great choices is linked to leading a life of wisdom. Proverbs invites us to live with wisdom and, in fear of the Lord, live the life God has for us, as wisdom is the principal quality with which God has made the world. Proverbs are filled with short sayings, the words of the wise over generations, that give us insight into Godly knowledge and skill, empowering us to make great choices along the pathway of wisdom.
Topics include:
WEEK 1 – Introduction to Proverbs
WEEK 2 – The Fear of the Lord
WEEK 3 – To Acquire Knowledge
WEEK 4 – To Acquire Wisdom
WEEK 5 – To Acquire Understanding
WEEK 6 – Wisdom in Relationships
WEEK 7 – Wisdom in speech

Sanctuary
Each participant will receive a discussion guide where you can learn about the psychological, social and theological perspectives around mental health problems. A film accompanies each session by featuring a story of a person of faith with a mental health challenge, along with the insights of mental health professionals and theologians.
There are seven sessions, each addressing a different mental health-related topic. The sessions aim to redefine your understanding of mental health, learn about various experiences of mental illness, consider the impact of stigma, explore the process of recovery, discover the importance of companionship, reflect on the caregiving experience, and examine self-care practices. In the final session, you will be invited to reflect individually and as a group.
NOTE: This course was created to raise awareness and reduce stigma by starting conversations about mental health in local churches. It is not meant to be used to develop a mental health ministry or design an individual recovery plan. Instead, this course will help you build a mental health vocabulary within your community so that honest conversations and genuine transformation can occur.
