Children need families. Families need communities.
Our goal is to see children thriving within resilient families and safe, inclusive communities which embrace vulnerable children and their parents or carers.
The outcomes of our Children and Families key activities are:
STRENGTHS & RESILIENCE
Parents are supported in their role and given opportunities to build their strengths and increase resilience.
CHILD SAFETY & DEVELOPMENT
Child-friendly environments are created to reduce risk of abuse or exploitation, promote optimal child development, diversity, inclusion and child voice.
SOCIAL CONNECTIONS & SUPPORT
Opportunites for positive social connection in safe, supportive environments. Vulnerable children and families have access to material resources in times of need or transition.
LOCAL NETWORKS & PARTNERSHIPS
Local partnerships are developed to improve outcomes and effectiveness for children & families and increased access to avenues of support
Playgroup is a safe, inclusive environment in which to promote children’s early development as they interact, play and learn with other children and adults, while still being with their parent/caregiver.
Parents and caregivers meet on a weekly basis during school terms with their babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers. Playgroup offers children a wide variety of play-based learning experiences, an opportunity to interact and play with other children of similar age, and carers and parents an opportunity to meet with others and share ideas and experiences.
CityCare is proud to partner with FAMILY COACH - a 12-18 month mentoring program for families that offers practical help and mentoring towards their life goals. We mobilise volunteers from within our local communities to support people in tough places to flourish.
The FAMILY COACH program seeks to empower families to achieve significant life goals and increase their wellbeing by providing mentoring from a specifically trained volunteer to address the social and economic conditions impacting vulnerable families.
OUR VILLAGE PROJECT
Our Village Project exists to encourage more people to consider opening their homes to a child who needs one, and to ensure those who do are well supported. This includes Info Sessions, Foster Care: First Steps content, Wrap-around Teams, and Trauma-informed Training.
Our Village Project is currently being piloted in Melbourne, Victoria.
