Making Christmas Special For Everyone!

Christmas can often be a difficult time, particularly for those who struggle with food insecurity or cannot afford gifts for their children. Kilo of Christmas is a CityCare initiative that aims to help restore dignity and hope to the hurting and vulnerable in our communities during Christmas time.

Through the generosity of our church, we are able to provide parents with quality, unwrapped toy packs that they can personally gift to their children on Christmas Day, as well as food hampers to ensure that those who may otherwise go without can enjoy a Christmas meal.

Over 2.3 million households

have experienced severe food insecurity in the last 12 months.

Over 1.3 million

live in severe food insecurity.

83% of lower income households

with children worry they cannot afford Christmas.

In 2023 we are aiming to provide

7,000 Food Hampers

(120,000 food items)

Each hamper contains approximately 40 meals plus Christmas treats.

5,000 Toy Packs

(15,000 toys)

Each toy pack contains 3 age-appropriate gifts.

Ways to help

The campaign is online, making it easy for anyone to contribute!

The campaign being online allows CityCare to purchase the most needed items, as well as ensure the quality of hampers and toys are all the same standard. It also enables us to confirm with our community partners what will be provided to them with plenty of time for delivery before Christmas.

There are various ways you can help support individuals and families this Christmas:

Purchase a hamper, toy pack, food items or a gift from our online store.
We have a range of food packs for Christmas hampers and gifts available for children between 0-16years.

Not sure what to purchase? Let CityCare do the choosing for you.
Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible through Hillsong CityCare and go towards purchases of most needed items.

Volunteer at our Wrap & Packs that will be happening at various campuses across the Country.

Kilo of Christmas extends beyond the physical items that are provided and is also about the sense of community and connections they create between CityCare and our partners. This helps us strengthen existing partner relationships as well as lay the foundations for new ones.

Our partnerships with over 193 community organisations help to facilitate the distribution of these toy packs and food hampers. Wesley Mission, Mission Australia, Settlement Services International, Multicultural Development Australia, The Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul are some of the key organisations that are involved. We also distribute through schools and major hospitals.
