We are people-centred and inclusive; we recognise the equal value, dignity and rights of every person, made in the image of God, to have the freedom to outwork their God-given purpose.
A HEALTHY CHURCH IS THE ANSWER TO A HURTING WORLD
As a Christ-centred, Bible-based church we are invited to be co-workers in Jesus’ mission to reconcile all things and to engage the world around us in ways that produce a flourishing community. We are called, both individually and collectively, to love our neighbour, care for the vulnerable and marginalised, and seek justice.
The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour. Luke 4:18-19 (NIV)
TRANSFORMATIONAL NOT TRANSACTIONAL
We pursue transformational engagement, not transactional activity.
To see deeper, meaningful change, we need to respond to root causes, not just symptoms.
Each CityCare core program is comprised of several key activities each with their own key outputs contributing to the overall program outcome. All programs are strategically designed to enable focus for greater impact – seeking transformational not transactional engagement.
Campaigns and Core Programs are run with the goal of mobilising our church for social justice and to see healthy families and safe, inclusive communities that have hope for the future.
CITYCARE OUTCOMES
We partner with communities to address poverty and its causes, through programs and partnerships that empower the next generation, foster healthy families, and create safe, inclusive communities, for the peace and wellbeing of the city and to empower people to lead and impact in every sphere of life.
Our programs and campaigns have been designed with several key activities that contribute to the overarching CityCare outcomes we hope to achieve.

CHURCH MOBILISATION

OUR APPROACH
STRENGTHS BASED
A strengths-based approach means the focus is on what someone has – their strength, capacity and agency – rather than the deficits or problems.
A strengths-based approach does not minimise the reality of vulnerability and risk but is mindful of negative labels being attached to people that represent a deficit-approach.
Our language and behaviour should be empowering, affirming the value, dignity and potential of every person, made in the image of God.
CITYCARE CORE VALUES
CityCare's Core values frame our approach, reflecting: What we BELIEVE, What we KNOW and What we DO
We are people-centred and inclusive; we recognise the equal value, dignity and rights of every person, made in the image of God, to have the freedom to outwork their God-given purpose.
We seek excellence and value ongoing learning, evaluation and improvement. We pursue a holistic approach that responds to root causes not just symptoms, desiring transformation through reconciled relationships for individuals, families and communities.
Building strong, mutually beneficial partnerships characterised by trust and loyalty for greater outcomes and effectiveness; pursuing mutually transformational relationships with local partners and amplifying local voice and leadership.
We seek to reach, equip and empower others, pursuing contemporary and progressive practice to create positive and sustainable change across generations.
We seek authenticity and credibility, acknowledging and assuming responsibility and acting with integrity and good stewardship. We are accountable to God, our leadership, our partners, the individual and communities we seek to serve, donors, and relevant authorities.
