We offer a range of short courses to educate and help people develop life skills that allow them to move forward in life. These Next Steps courses are available across all our church campuses on Wednesday nights during school terms or at alternative days and times as scheduled.
ShineWOMEN
ShineWOMEN is for each woman to develop an understanding of her own personal worth, strength and purpose and in doing so realise their full potential. ShineGIRL
ShineGIRL is an accredited course designed for teenage girls to develop an understanding of her personal worth, strength and purpose. Strength
Strength is an accredited personal development course for young males to equip them to discover and strengthen their value, identity and potential. English as Second Language (ESL)
Australia being a multi-lingual and diverse society, many people struggle to connect because of the language barrier. We provide English as a Second Language (ESL) classes at no cost to the community in a warm and friendly environment.
A majority of our students are new migrants or refugees and come from many different nations. It is not unusual to have 10 to 11 different nationalities represented in one class. Students want to learn English so they can gain employment, attend university, and learn to converse so they can socially integrate into the community. ESL classes cover all levels from elementary to upper intermediate. We also offer refreshments between classes to allow students and teachers to have informal discussions and make new friends.

Janis from Germany upon arriving in Brisbane, needed to brush up on his English language, and enrolled in our intermediate ESL class in 2014. After six months of attending our ESL classes he was able to secure employment as a labourer in the building industry. He found the English Classes not only gave him the opportunity to improve his English but also his confidence as he got to interact with other students and to socially integrate into a new country.
