Heart for the House 2021
Across the world, slavery is more prevalent today than any other time in history, with an estimated 40.3 million human beings enslaved. For over 10 years, A21 has worked with authorities to secure the freedom of human trafficking victims and the conviction of traffickers through holistic aftercare, safe accommodation and relocation services.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, A21’s frontline teams exercised remarkable agility as they found creative ways to continue delivering core programs including phone hotlines (for people to report instances of human trafficking), Child Advocacy Centres (CACs) and aftercare programs.
Over the next 12 months, A21’s crucial work will continue, as they rebuild communities, support infrastructure, provide ongoing care to victims of trafficking and partner with government agencies to rescue women, men and children from slavery.
