CityCare is an expression of Hillsong Church that partners with local organisations to help create healthy families and safe, inclusive communities. We are currently running 59 youth, women, children and family activities in partnership with various schools and community organisations, with plans to launch 26 more activities throughout the rest of 2022.
When the various lockdowns and restrictions were re-introduced, we were able to pivot to providing ‘Emergency Food Relief’ for those who were unable to access the various government supports or who simply fell through the cracks. It was because of the generosity of our church, that we were able to do this, whereas many relief organisations had to close their doors during this time.
Youth Programs
SHINEGirl & Strength – Nine-week group curriculums, young people increase their sense of value and identity, understand the power of choice, grow in emotional resilience, and dream and set goals for their future.
Youth COACH Mentoring – In partnership with COACH Network, young people are matched with a mentor to meet weekly over a 12-month period, working towards the achievement of a significant goal and increasing personal wellbeing.
Safe Spaces – Safe Spaces give young people consistent access to spaces in which they feel safe and can connect to their peers and supportive adult role models.
Women
Our programs aim to see women flourish by providing inclusive, safe and empowering culture and communities for women, including women and families experiencing domestic and family violence.
Homes of Peace – Is a transitional housing program for women and their children leaving domestic and family violence. The program provides housing and individualised case management to support families re-establish their lives and set them up for a successful future.
SHINE Women – Through the SHINE Women nine-week group curriculum, each participant develops an understanding of her own personal worth, strength and purpose and realises her capacity to build a meaningful and contributing life.
Children & Families
Children need families. Families need communities. Our goal is to see children thriving within resilient families and safe, inclusive communities which embrace vulnerable children and their parents or carers.
Playgroup – Offers children a wide variety of play-based learning experiences, an opportunity to interact and play with other children of similar age, and carers and parents an opportunity to meet with others and share ideas and experiences.
Family COACH – In partnership with COACH Network, Family COACH is a mentoring program for parents that offers practical help and mentoring towards their life goals.
Our Village Project – Encourages people to consider opening their homes to a child who needs one, and to ensure those who do are well supported. This includes Information Sessions, Foster Care: First Steps content, Wrap-around Teams, and Trauma-informed Training.
Crisis Support
CityCare will continue to respond to crises as they arise, with Kilo of Kindness launching early this year to help those many communities across QLD and NSW impacted by the floods.
“Playgroup has been such a blessing for me and my girls. In a season of learning to be a mum of two, it has been brilliant to have something to look forward to in our week like playgroup. A safe and happy space to play and feel valued and seen but also listen, encourage and honour the challenges and triumphs of other parents. It’s safe, clean, welcoming, full of variety and free!”
