This year, for the very first time, we are launching our Local Impact Project at Hillsong Conference Europe. We are partnering with the Refugee Council and the fantastic work they do for the refugee minors in this country.
It’s only a few weeks until Hillsong Conference Europe starts in London and we are believing the time here will inspire and equip you.
We see it as our mandate to be the change we want to see in our local world, and although we can not do everything we must do something. We are wanting to be a blessing to the refugee children who have arrived the UK, seeking asylum and are facing many challenges as newly arrived residents on our shores. We are donating clothes and finances towards two particular projects which is explained below together with the practical steps of how you can be part of making an impact.
Clothing Items
We are collecting clothing for minor male refugees who are part of the Refugee Council’s Age Dispute project. To be ‘age disputed’ basically means on arrival in the UK, some of the most vulnerable have been assessed, wrongly, to be adults. This impacts every experience they will have in the UK, even their claim for asylum. The clothes will go into welcome packs which will be handed to the boys in this project.
Financial Contributions
The financial donations will go the Youth work amongst unaccompanied youth refugees providing them with educational support, social activities, development courses and a Youth Leadership Programme which empowers the youth to step up to become leaders.
We believe that as the Church of Jesus Christ we can have a compassionate response to this very real need at our doorsteps. We are asking that as many as possible, who are coming to Hillsong Conference Europe this year, to contribute with either items or a financial donation towards our Local Impact Project. With some simple gifts we can help to create a place of welcome and safety for a minor facing the overwhelming challenge of settling into a new place.
Thank you for always choosing to be a part of the solution!

Ways You Can Take Part
1. Bring in Items
We are looking to collect new clothing items to create welcome packs for unaccompanied male refugee youth in the United Kingdom.
You can bring these items to the Refugee Response stand at the Expo at Hillsong Conference
We have created a list below according to the need:
2. Buy items online
If you are not able to bring items to the conference, we have made it easy for people to buy items online via our Amazon gift list. Here you can choose what items you would like to donate towards the project.
3. Make a donation
Financial donations will go towards the Refugee Council’s the Children Section and their youth work. Our goal is to raise £4,000 for this project so they are able to impact the lives of more unaccompanied minors
