Right now there are children, predominantly 16 and 17 year-old boys, waiting in various parts of Europe for a home. These are children who have fled persecution in countries such as Afghanistan, Syria, Eritrea and Sudan and are alone, separated from any family support.
The UK Government has committed to welcoming a certain number of children to the UK, under programs such as the ‘Dubs Scheme’, and allowing them to make their home here, however there is a lack of available placements and these children are left waiting.
Home For Good
As a church, we are partnering with Home for Good a UK-wide charity that connects people interested in fostering or adopting with local authorities and agencies across the country. Home for Good can support anyone who is considering fostering or adopting by talking about the process and answering any questions and concerns. They also equip families with tools, such as, courses that will help them make the decision or prepare them to start fostering or adoption.
We believe that the church is ideally a place to help find families to foster or adopt – we can make a difference in the lives of children who are most vulnerable by opening our homes and hearts.
