In the year ending March 2020, the UK received 35,099 asylum applications and 4,968 people were resettled as refugees. Through Welcome Boxes we want to see every refugee and asylum seeker coming to the UK welcomed by a network of churches.
Welcome Boxes provide a warm welcome through delivering a box with small gifts and items to a refugee family or individual in their local area. The ‘Welcomers’ will connect with the family and individual for the next three months or so and support them with friendship and support such as accessing local services.
North London
We currently run the Welcome Boxes project in North London befriending refugee families referred to us by Haringey Council. A passionate team has welcomed close to a dozen families and supported them with a warm welcome, local connections, food packs and furniture donations. Unaccompanied Minors
Through working together with the Refugee Council we aim to provide backpacks with essentials for young refugees and asylum seekers coming to the UK. These young people come to our country with next to nothing and are in need of some fresh clothes, toiletries and other items that will help them set up life here. We have set up a list of essential items on Amazon; click the button below to help us buy much-needed items and create more packs.
