Our Response So Far...

Home Office / Local Authorities

Refugee Council

Through your generosity, we as a church working alongside Refugee Council have been able to provide & send over 120 welcome packs for unaccompanied minors who have been granted access into our borders.

We’ve also begun monthly workshops teaching creative and life skills for unaccompanied minors run by people in the life of our church volunteering their time.

From these relationships forming we’ve seen unaccompanied minors begin attending our Saturday performing arts academy – Amplified Arts Academy.

Renewal Newham

As part of our response, we’ve been able to partner with the Renewal Newham programme, a charity organisation making a difference in the lives of disadvantaged people in the London borough of Newham. We’ve been able to provide them with donations of clothing, food and gifts for refugees and refugee minors.

English Classes

We’ve started weekly ESOL classes to help those in our community who want to improve their English.

If you have any experience teaching english and would like to get involved with our Greenlight ESOL team, click here.

Pathways to Independence

We’ve been assisting with the settlement of Refugee minors in the UK, those now based in Croydon, Redhill & Brighton and have begun various projects to help them integrate into communities.

Projects:
1. Mentorship Programme
Matching people in the area to a young person, volunteering 2hrs per week to build in to their life, help them to get work experience and integrate in to community.

2. Friday Night Football Club
Fortnightly football club to build social relationships & practice English.

3. Home DIY
Helping to make a house a home for these young people, painting DIY, cooking classes plus providing all things that they need for independent living.

4. Welcome Packs
Providing essential items including school supplies – we’ve supplied 30 packs so far.

5. SHINE / Strength Course
We’ll be extending our Shine programme into these local communities hoping to empower girls and give them confidence as they begin life and school in a new city.

If you would like to get involved in any one of these projects , please feel free by getting in touch by emailing us at [email protected] .
